A Taste of Outlander Tastebook

A Taste of Outlander Tastebook

Beyond the Books, Outlander

I’m currently on a ferry, traveling down to Seattle for Random House’s Outlander Fan Retreat, but I’m bursting at the seams to show you an exciting new project that I’ve been working on for the last little bit.

This #Outlander is very pleased to present Outlander Kitchen’s A Taste of Outlander, sponsored by Tastebook.com.

Tastebook specializes in print-on-demand, personalized cookbooks with hardcover, easy-open binders that conveniently sit flat on the counter. They are printed on high quality paper, with gorgeous, full-colour photos. You can add more of your favourite recipes to your Tastebook at any time.

Within the covers of A Taste of Outlander you’ll find twenty-one recipes inspired by Diana Gabaldon’s debut novel, Outlander. From Mrs. Graham’s Oatmeal Scones, to Laoghaire’s Whisky Sour, to a Carrot Cupcake Craigh na Dun, A Taste of Outlander contains the same mix of authentic historical recipes, modern adaptations and creative, character-inspired dishes that you find here on Outlander Kitchen.

As well as the old favourites, several new, never-before-seen recipes are also inside, including Frank’s Sherry Tipple, Jenny’s Crockpot Parritch and a delectable Warm Almond Pastry that good Father Anselm tried to persuade into Claire after their very philosophical discussion beside the carp pools of the Abbey of Sainte Anne de Beaupré.

Thank you to Tastebook and to Random House for this awesome opportunity.

I’ve got a couple of copies of A Taste of Outlander with me on the way to the Seattle Retreat, and I’ll be giving them away during the Outlander Kitchen Meet & Greet portion of the programme, from 2-3pm on Saturday. Please drop by and say hi!

To purchase your own copy, visit Outlander Kitchen on Tastebook and click “make this my personal cookbook” on the right, near the top of the page.  That will take you to a login page, where you create a Tastebook account.  From there, it’s a matter of following the site’s instructions. If you have trouble, please contact Tastebook for assistance.  I’m not able to help with the order process, I’m afraid.

US residents can get 50% off the purchase price until December 31, 2014, by using the Coupon Code OUTLANDER.

And remember, Outlanders, if you like what you see and taste…this can be just a taste of things to come.

Do you have a version of a recepie for the Oyster Stew described in Boyager or the fish & oyster stew in WIMOHB? They both sound delicious! & i love the soundcof the Cherry Bounce, i think have to have a crack of that!

Are you going to put ALL your O.K. recipes up on Taste Book? I have started creating my cookbook, but I want to put all of your O.K. recipes in there!

I don’t have any plans to add additional recipes, Shannon. The OK Tastebook is a promotional cookbook put together by Random House for the Seattle retreat. I hope to publish a complete OK Cookbook one day!

I’m coming to this party a little late, and I love the idea of the Tastebook. I’m on my way there now and I will be putting together my own book of all my favorite Scottish and German recipes (I have to include the German recipes since that’s how I landed my very own real life Jamie Fraser). I just have to know, what is the recipe featured in the last picture? That looks absolutely scrumptious.

That is Anselms warm almond pastry, that he and Claire have with a warm cup of ale after the carp pools.
