Scotland 2011
If you’ve checked out my Brianna’s Bridies from DOA post, you may have noticed that Howard and I traveled to the Scottish Highlands, specifically the Caledonian Canal, in April of this year. We rented a boat and cruised from Inverness to Ft. William (and back again), via Loch Ness, Loch Oich and a few other lochs in between. We also had one of the nicest weeks of weather anyone in the area can remember for a very long time.
Howard made a video of our time on the boat, and set it to some lovely gaelic-inspired music — enjoy!
We had some family join us on the return journey from Ft. William to Inverness — Howard’s Mom, his step-Dad and my Mom — we had a great time cruising the water, cooking in the little galley and feasting at a couple of pubs along the way. It’s no wonder that the boat rental company’s, Caley Cruisers, tagline is “The Fastest Way to Slow Down.” I can’t recommend a week on the Highlands on one of their boats enough; we had the relaxing time of our lives.
Here are some photos from our trip including our week on the canal, some of the food, our visit to Culloden’s Visitors’ Centre, as well as the side trip that Mom and I made to Edinburgh:

Just discovered your website – lovely! Looking forward to more yummy food.
Welcome to the kitchen, deniz!
Love the video. A wonderful start to my day…although it made me miss Scotland! I would love to see it that way one day!
It`s the trip for you Lee Ann! A week on the water, followed by a week on the pub trail in Edinburgh…water, whiskey, beer and good food…heaven!
