OK’s 1st Anniversary, Tasting the Cherry Bounce & A Giveaway

OutlanderKitchen.com

Can you believe it?  Outlander Kitchen turns 1 year old today!

I can believe it.  This blog is a labour of love for me, and it’s also a lot of work.  But in the past 12 months, because of OK, I’ve met – online and in-person – a whole new group of friends, many of whom I talk to everyday.  Earlier this month, I traveled to Niagara Falls to meet a dozen of the 70+ women in an online Outlander book club that I joined just after launching OK.

And then just 1 week later, I found myself getting a big ol’ hug from Diana Herself at a book signing at the Surrey International Writers’ Conference.  (More on that next week.) Read more…

Outlander Around the World Contest & Giveaway!

It’s giveaway time again!  The perfect kind of blog post for a holiday kind of week.  (Here in North America at least.)

I think this one is a lot of fun.  Oh, it’s a bit of work — 13 questions in all — but you should be able to answer at least a few of them off the top of your head.  And for the rest, there’s Google…(Did you know that you can drag almost any image into the search box on Google Images, and it will tell you what the picture is?  BIG HINT.)

And the payoff is worth it!  I’ll leave you in suspense and wait until the end to unveil the prize, but I’m pretty sure you’ll be in once you see it.  So kick back for 10 minutes, put on your thinking cap, and join me for an Outlander journey around the world…

Jamie’s Rusty Nail & OK’s First Giveaway!

A sudden roar from the roof above startled me out of my thoughts.

I walked out into the dooryard and looked up, shading my eyes against the morning sun.  Jamie was sitting astride the rooftree, rocking to and fro over one hand, which he held curled into his belly.

“What’s going on up there?”  I called.

“I’ve got a splinter,” came the terse answer, obviously spoken through clenched teeth.

I wanted to laugh, if only as small escape from tension, but didn’t.

“Well, come down, then.  I’ll pull it out.”

“I’m no finished!”

“I don’t care!” I said, suddenly impatient with him.  “Come down this minute.  I want to talk to you.”

A bag of nails hit the grass with a sudden clank, followed instantly by the hammer.

First things first, then.
